Information about Skridskoskolan
Skating school (Skridskoskolan) is a fun way for children to be active, and learn the basics of ice skating. Our goal is for all children to have fun at the rink. Skridskoskolan is a total of 10 occasions on Saturdays. At the end of the term in order to show the new skills the children learnt during the term everyone participates in an ice show for all parents to come and see. Skridskoskolan is for children between the ages of 4 to 10 years old.
Children of 10 years old and older are welcomed in Konståkningsskolan, you can find it in the top menu.
Equipment
We are not able to provide any equipment, therefore you need to
- bring skates, with or without picks for skating school. Ensure the blades are sharp and the skate shoe is tightly attached to the foot. This is necessary to have a fun time and to make it easier to skate. A pair of hard plastic blade guards are needed when the child walks outside of the ice.
- It is mandatory to use a helmet. Make sure the helmet is made for ice-skating, fits the head and protects the forehead and backhead. No bike helmets or ski helmets!
- All children need to wear gloves during the entire practice. They are needed to protect the hand from the cold ice if they fall or from other childrens’ blades. Both thinner and thicker gloves are recommended so the child can choose what they prefer during practice.
- Clean clothes are important because dirt from the clothes ruins the ice. We recommend tight and stretchy clothes, but clean outdoor clothes are okay in skating school.
Remember to get to the rink in time. The group gathers beside the ice first to take attendance. If you as a caregiver want to stay and watch the practice we refer you to the grandstand because the children get distracted by adults near the ice.
